My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

1. What is your name?

My name is Atlas.

2. How old are you?

I am a little over 2 years old.

3. What do you look like?

I am a medium sized dog with a muscular build, the chicks seem to dig it. I am mostly liver with a splash of white on my chest.

4. What do you like to eat?

I’ve been eating a variety of kibble and raw food and do well on pretty much any protein. I did have a trachea one day and that did not agree with my stomach so I stay away from those now. Live and learn.

5. What kind of personality do you have?

My nickname at home is mushie, while I like to act and look all tough, I’m really just a softie at heart that loves a good cuddle. I’m not a high energy kind of guy, but I do enjoy walks and romping in the fields.

6. Describe your perfect day

It really doesn’t take much to make me happy. My perfect day is breakfast next to you and maybe a nice hike, followed by a long nap in the sun and a belly rub by you at night.

7. What is your favorite toy?

I think my favorite toy is a good frozen marrow bone. Those things are the best.

8. Do you know any tricks?

Just because I got all this brawn, don’t think I don’t have any brains. I do know how to sit, climb, stay, lay down, walk on lead, and I’m learning more each day. I also know to take the cookies real nice, I don’t bite too hard or anything.

9. What scares you?

I am not really afraid of anything.

10. Do you like cats?

I’m not really sure what I think of those beasts. Curious looking things. I’ve never been around a cat to have an opinion.

11. Do you have any doggie best friends?

I currently live with two other females and a male and get along with all of them most of the time. I would prefer that male dog take a hike a though, but those girls, now they can stay for sure.

12. If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Honestly, I’m a simple fella and anywhere you are is where I want to be.

13. How is your health?

According to my veterinarian, I am in great condition, and just look at me, perfection.

14. How long have you lived in your foster home?

It’s been several months since I was rescued and brought into my foster home with Even Chance.

15. Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?

I share a beautiful home with my foster parents and foster siblings. I have two high school aged people siblings that are at school or with friends most of the time. I also have three dog siblings. All of my foster family is great, but I’m probably closest to my foster mom.

16. Where do you hang out when you are home alone?

I always hang out in my crate when there aren’t any people home.

17. Where do you sleep?

I always sleep in my crate at night, but while my family is home, I will lay on my bed in the family room. I love my crate and “crate up” is my command and I’m really good at it, just saying.

18. What do you love about your foster family?

I love that my foster family is so dedicated to meeting all my needs. I am grateful that Even Chance rescued me!

19. What was life like before you were rescued by Even Chance and brought into the welcoming arms of your foster parents?

I was wandering the streets and brought into a shelter before my Even Chance begun.

Even Chance does not operate on a first come, first serve basis. In most cases we have already decided the type of home and owner we want for our dogs. These opinions are based on the temperament tests we perform prior to accepting the dog into our program and the behaviors the dogs display as they spend time in our homes. Our agency reserves the right to deny acceptance of any dog to an owner who we feel the lifestyle does not match that of the dog. We are in no way judging you or your lifestyle; we simply want to put our dogs in the best living situation possible. We take very seriously the decision we make when it comes to placing one of our dogs in a forever home. If I sound like the perfect pit bull for your and your family and you are interested in giving me a forever home, do not hesitate! Please fill out an application here and my foster family will contact you to schedule an in-person meet and greet. We look forward to meeting any and all interested applicants.
