My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you searching for a faithful friend who sees the world with boundless love and enthusiasm? That's me, Sonny! I'm overflowing with spirit and charm, longing for a forever home . I might be big and fluffy, but my heart is even bigger! I love to learn new tricks and I have a lot of fun showing off 'sit', 'shake' and 'down.' I am all about my people and thrive on affection from those that I trust.

I have some specific needs that call for a patient and loving family. Because I can get a bit worked up around other dogs and small critters, I need slow introductions and a home without children. But with careful guidance and understanding, I can become your perfect companion. Plus, I've got some creaky joints, so a cozy home with good medical care is a must. I thrive in a calm, structured setting where I can learn and grow with consistent training. Even though I take time to adjust to new people and places, playing games and learning new tricks brings out the best in me.

I require some time to acclimate to unfamiliar surroundings, I am currently available for adoption by appointment only. If you're willing to offer patience and understanding, I'm eager to meet you! Please schedule a time to come and meet me!

" I am currently available for adoption, but I'm also in need of a temporary foster home while I wait for my future family. Fostering means providing me with a safe and caring space where I can learn, grow, and share my unique personality while waiting for adoption. The amazing folks at OK Humane will provide all the necessary support, from food and supplies to medical care, while you offer the love, attention, and insights that will help me find the perfect forever family. If you're not ready to commit to adopting, e-mail foster@okhumane.org about fostering me! "

Additional adoption info

Adoption Process
We have an open adoption policy, so there is no application or interview process. We simply ask that you meet the pet in person before adoption. We have adoption specialists that will help you find the right pet for your family.

Adoption Center
The Adoption Center is located at 7500 N. Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Our Adoption Center is a totally new concept in Oklahoma City where dogs have comfortable, expanded kennels and cats stay in “living rooms” with furniture and toys.

Pets by Appointment
Some amazing dogs get stressed out in a kennel environment like our Adoption Center, and much prefer staying at their foster home until they find their new family. If you see a dog on our website that says “E-Mail to Meet Me” that means that this furry friend is just a click away from getting a ride to the Adoption Center to meet you in person.

Adoption Fees
Adult dogs are $150 to adopt, puppies are $200 to adopt, adult cats are $75 to adopt and kittens are $95 to adopt. All of our pets are microchipped, spayed or neutered, treated with all age-appropriate vaccinations and flea, tick, and heartworm preventative prior to being cleared for adoption, so we put a lot of effort and monetary investment into each of our animals including a two-week quarantine period in a foster home. These adoption fees help cover the costs of our animals’ health and well-being!
