My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for an adventure or exercise buddy!? I'm your guy! I absolutely love going to the park and even doing some jogging while we are there. I walk pretty well on a leash, but I sometimes still pull and weave, especially when I catch a scent. I sometimes bark when I see other dogs while out, but treats work pretty well to redirect me! My former family thought I had the potential to be a great running or walking buddy with some more training.

I love to play with my toys and prefer a rotating inventory to keep me from getting bored. I'm quickly learning what is ok to chew on, but it's a journey. I have a lot of energy. To help burn my energy, I would love a yard where I can run outside and maybe a doggie buddy to play with whenever I am bored.

The shelter that I was at before OK Humane said I did great with another dog. I like to get to know new dogs slowly, but I've done really well with gradual introductions to dogs about my size. I often try to play with my foster parents like they are a dog. I use my mouth a lot and paws a lot to play and when I want attention. I've never lived with cats but if you take the time to teach me how to safely interact with them, I may do just fine. I definitely think we should take cats slowly though, just in case I like them too much!

I am learning that people don't always want my hugs because of something they call "personal space." I may play too rough for some kids, but I used to live with some toddlers and their mom said I was really sweet with them. I may need a 6 foot fence too because I can climb/jump things easily.

I sleep in the crate well at night, I may whine a little initially but I usually settle down quickly. Although if you let me sleep in the bed, I would love that even more! I am doing really well with crate training, but it may take me some time to get used to a new environment. In a past home, I was left in a small dog-proof room that kept me safe without a crate.

I'm still working on house training. Most of the time I do my business outside, I just get really excited sometimes and forget, can you blame me? I'm just a big puppy! I am a very happy student when food is involved! I know "sit" very well. I'm doing pretty good with "look at me," "come", "stay," "lay down," "go to your bed or crate," and "leave it." I'll definitely need more practice with these commands since I am just learning them. My old family was impressed with how quickly I learned (when food is involved). I am very food motivated!

Want to know the cutest thing about me? It's when I talk while I get the zoomies. I'll run circles around our yard and tell everyone about my day! I am super cute and cuddly in the morning before I want to play.

" I am currently available for adoption, but I'm also in need of a temporary foster home while I wait for my future family. Fostering means providing me with a safe and caring space where I can learn, grow, and share my unique personality while waiting for adoption. The amazing folks at OK Humane will provide all the necessary support, from food and supplies to medical care, while you offer the love, attention, and insights that will help me find the perfect forever family. If you're not ready to commit to adopting, e-mail foster@okhumane.org about fostering me! "

Additional adoption info

Adoption Process
We have an open adoption policy, so there is no application or interview process. We simply ask that you meet the pet in person before adoption. We have adoption specialists that will help you find the right pet for your family.

Adoption Center
The Adoption Center is located at 7500 N. Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73116. Our Adoption Center is a totally new concept in Oklahoma City where dogs have comfortable, expanded kennels and cats stay in “living rooms” with furniture and toys.

Pets by Appointment
Some amazing dogs get stressed out in a kennel environment like our Adoption Center, and much prefer staying at their foster home until they find their new family. If you see a dog on our website that says “E-Mail to Meet Me” that means that this furry friend is just a click away from getting a ride to the Adoption Center to meet you in person.

Adoption Fees
Adult dogs are $150 to adopt, puppies are $200 to adopt, adult cats are $75 to adopt and kittens are $95 to adopt. All of our pets are microchipped, spayed or neutered, treated with all age-appropriate vaccinations and flea, tick, and heartworm preventative prior to being cleared for adoption, so we put a lot of effort and monetary investment into each of our animals including a two-week quarantine period in a foster home. These adoption fees help cover the costs of our animals’ health and well-being!
