If you see pets listed by a private owner, it means that they’re adoptable through Adopt a Pet’s Rehome program – the safe and reliable way to find a loving new home for your pet.
I am looking for a loving home for my mixed-breed dog named Sparty. He is around 80lbs and neutered. He has a ton of energy, so he needs a home that can provide him with exercise, stimulation, and a fenced yard to run around in. He currently receives a thirty-minute walk almost every morning (1-2 miles). And he knows the commands sit, shake, down, turn around, and speak.
Sparty is a great dog. Unfortunately he has the following negative traits:
1. He is possessive and guards treats or toys that he has stolen from my toddler. He has done warning bites.
2. He shows some dominance behavior, e.g. he will sometimes try to hump my husky.
3. He does not get along with cats, which means my cat has to stay up stairs.
With the right home, I think Sparty could be the best dog. He responds well to treats, and is super loyal. He's gotten off leash on a walk in my neighborhood before and he went straight home. I think he just needs a place where he can be the top dog and the focus.
