Meet Stella! She is a long-haired Chihuahua approximately six years old and about 7 pounds who we are helping her owner re-home. She was originally an owner surrender to the Humane Society Highland County because her owner could no longer care for her and her “sister” (a black chihuahua mix unrelated to her). Her owner was told they are a bonded pair and adopted them together. Both dogs were quite sick from a bad hookworm infestation and when they healed it was evident that Stella does not like her dog 'sister' at all and would be much happier as an only dog in a quiet home.
She loves cuddling on the couch and just wants to be near her person. She is shy at first and like many chihuahuas bonds very hard to 'her person' and at times doesn't want anyone else to come near them. Because of this she would do best in a single person, quiet home where her person is home a lot and she can be the center of their world!
She plays with stuffed animal toys and can fetch, and loves to watch for squirrels and birds and chew her bone. She is house trained and walks on a leash but would prefer to just go out in the backyard unleashed so a fenced in yard is required to adopt her. She knows her name and comes when called.
She tolerates other dogs but isn’t really interested in playing with them and gets annoyed if she's not in the mood. She chased a cat out of the backyard once so we don’t think she would do well with cats either.
If you are looking for a snuggly little lady to spend your days with, Stella is your girl! Stella is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption donation is only $250. To meet Stella please fill out an adoption application on www.maxxandme.org. If you are seeing this bio, Stella is still available so no need to email us to ask.
