My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chance came to us barely alive, he was just a skeleton with fur. You could see in his eyes that he had given up. We believe that he was just a short time from death. He didnt really have the strength to eat dry food and barely nibble on canned. So we hand fed him until he began to eat on his own and each day we watched him get stronger and stronger and the will to live return. He is a bit timid at first but who could blame him, he has been through so much in his young life. He is wonderfully affectionate when he learns to trust a person; when the shelter closes at night and things are quiet, he will approach whoever is still hanging around and climb right into the first available lap; he is unbelievably sweet, and he's never aggressive with the other cats. Chance, boy, born approx 08/08.

More about this shelter

Who We Are:

HELP Humane: HELP Humane Inc. is a non-profit organization currently run by a small group of animal lovers in Cass County, MO (just south of Kansas City).

All HELP animals are treated by veterinarians receive age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, spayed/neutered and those incoming after Oct 2005, have been micro chipped. Cats have been Feluk/FIV tested and are negative unless otherwise stated. Dogs have been heartworm tested and are on heartworm preventative.

HELP now has a no-kill shelter. HELP does not take in any owner relinquished animals. HELP rescues stray dogs and cats from the streets. We have been told by many adopters that the reason they liked adopting form us is because we have a happy place and all the cats are the friendliest ones they had ever met. HELP feels that ALL animal’s are worth saving. We have many FIV and FeLV+ cats in our care. They will live with us until they end their life’s journey or find a permanent home.

Currently we are in a financial crisis and desperately need more funding to continue our mission. We are also currently in need of foster homes. The more foster homes we have, the more pets we can help. We also need more volunteers and a grant writer. Of course donations of money and/or pet supplies are most helpful.

Our regular monthly meetings are at 7:00pm, the 1st Tuesday of each month. At our Shelter at 17122 Bel Ray Place, Belton, MO 64012.
