My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In early April I was contacted about a bonded pair of beagle mixes whose owner has lost his home and was living in a shed with them. He was getting ready to leave the state and had been unable to rehome them. He called his ex-wife to inform her that they would be left in the shed, which was in coyote country; thus, they were in danger of predators.

After speaking with ex-wife, she agreed to foster both dogs and allow me time to work on rehoming them. Obadiah (Obie) and Sarah were born December 8, 2014, and are most likely yorkie/terrier (mom) and beagle/doxie (dad) mix. They are extremely bonded and must be kept together. They were spayed and neutered at 6 months of age, and until being displaced, they were loved by their owner.

Obie and Sarah have received updated vaccinations and are heartworm negative and on prevention for heartworms and fleas. They very seldom bark and are housebroken. Sarah had a growth on her face that concerned me, so I had it removed and pathology is negative for cancer. As the foster works second shift, Silver Linings Rescue volunteers have been going over in the evenings and walking for exercise and potty time. They walk well on a leash, and while Obie does notice other dogs, he typically will pass them without issue. If he does become reactive, I've refocused and corrected him and he responds well. They ride well in the car and get in and out on command; the first time is confusing for them, but once they know the routine, they are masters at it!

Upon meeting these two dogs, they were grieving the loss of their owner and were shy; since being with them since April 16, 2020, they have really come out of their shell. They are absolutely 2 of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. They love walks and are always smiling, come up for pets and scratches behind the ears. They function as one dog, so don't be intimidated by there being 2!

I am looking to rehome them; they are bonded and MUST stay together. This is not optional. I am hoping to find a home where they become part of a family. Both dogs were raised with toddlers and are gentle and love being around children (would recommend age 4 or older). They don't respond to cats. They have even shared a home with a pet bunny without issue, but we're not sure if they would still ignore it. Obie and Sarah deserve to find their forever home. If the adoptive home would not work out, they must be returned to Silver Linings Rescue, as stated in the adoption agreement. I'm hoping whoever adopts them would share their adventures on Facebook or message me as I've grown very fond of them. Anyone interested in adoption will need a vet and personal reference and home visit as well as a meet and greet. Are you the family that is looking for the best dogs in the world? Please contact Silver Linings Rescue to meet these super sweet dogs.
