My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Cane is a sweet, gentle cat who came to our rescue from a high-kill shelter in 2020, along with another kitty named Bane (adopted). At first, Cane was very fearful of people and would keep to himself or hide whenever visitors were around. But with time, he’s gradually learned to trust and has built up enough confidence to venture out from our Shy Cat area to mingle with visitors, albeit from a safe distance. It’s very clear from Cane’s body language that he’s right on the cusp of taking that next step and maybe allowing a gentle pet or two. Cane would love nothing more than to find a quiet, supportive home with understanding caretakers who are willing to let him bloom on his own terms and pace. We aren’t sure how he’d do around dogs, but he gets along fine with the other cats at the Goathouse and would likely not mind sharing a home with another easy-going, non-dominant cat.

More about this rescue

Siglinda Scarpa is a potter and a sculpter who owns 3 acres of fenced-in property in which she houses up to 258 homeless cats. The Refuge is a sanctuary for these cats, who never have to leave, but if they are adoptable, the cats are posted on our website and taken to adoption events in the community. The more cats that we find homes for, the more cats we can rescue.
