Leo is a two year old Staffie mix. We have listed him as mixed with Labrador Retriever, because that is what he looks like, but his DNA says his ancestry includes Aussie and Border Collie, but NOT Lab! Go figure.
Regardless of his parentage, this boy loves to fetch, loves the water, and is very engaging when he is at play. He is able to relax and hang out, but is ready for action at a moment's notice. Leo has a good recall, knows how to "sit", is doing well with "stay", is responsive to verbal correction via an "eh! eh!" sound, and is very food motivated as well as toy motivated. He also knows to keep his paws off the counter (by perfecting the balancing on your hind legs trick). However, he needs more work on his leash training. Essentially, as soon as he is out of the yard, excitement at being out takes over and he has a hard time listening. :)
Leo is not good with other dogs or cats because he tends to guard his food and toys from them. He will also do this with people who reach into his kennel (if he is kept in one), so his ideal household should be child and animal free, and his new owner should be experienced with dogs and want an active, loyal jogging or hiking companion, or a playmate for fetch!
Leo is neutered, immunized and micro-chipped and ready for his new home and his adoption fee is just $60.
