My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Nadia!

Hello everyone, my name is Nadia! I'm 13 years old and 15 pounds. I was found as a stray and was at a shelter in Houston before I got to my foster mom's house. I was emaciated, had horrible teeth, and was dragging a "ball and chain" around in the form of a chain of mammary tumors that didn't allow me to walk very well. Luckily I'm all fixed up and ready for my forever home now! I'm good with all the dogs I've met, of all different sizes, but I really like the gentle yet playful dogs. My foster mom is working with me on my potty training, because we want me to be the best version of me for my new family. I sure hope they will be willing to continue working with me and have a bit of patience. I'm very food motivated, and enjoy dining alone, but I'll be sure to let you know when I'm finished.

I like being with my humans as much as possible, and will let you know im not happy if you leave me alone, so maybe my new humans will be able to live the retired life with me! I also like playing with my fur friends in the back yard and taking daily walks around the neighborhood to see what's going on. After excersize time is over I'd be happy to quietly lay at your feet on a dog bed, with a blanket. At the end of the day id love to cuddle up with you in bed and burrow under the covers in true dachshund fashion. I'll even keep you warm during the the cold winter months! Now I just hope my forever family finds me soon so we can make a lifetime of memories!

Albert's Dog Lounge is a transporting dog rescue, meaning that we rescue many of our dogs from high kill shelters in areas of dog overpopulation. We are a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. The vast majority of our dogs come from the Houston, TX area where we have an entire team of volunteers, coordinators, and fosters. We do also work with local shelters, rescues, and owners. If you apply for a dog that is currently in our local Houston program, we will work to get your dog transported to WI as quickly as possible. We ask that you have patience during this time of uncertainty and unprecedented dog adoptions nationwide.

Learn more about Albert's Dog Lounge, our mission, and adoption policies by visiting Albertsdoglounge.org.

Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $250.
