Mazey was surrendered to Dusty Paws Rescue when her family was unable to keep her. She is a sweet girl, about 8 years old and is 3-legged. One of her back legs had to be amputated due to her being hit by a car. We are hoping Mazey will be adopted by someone experienced with senior dogs - even better if familiar with tripods.
Mazey currently lives in a home with her foster parents, another foster dog (Yukon, a Malamute/Husky), and the resident cat. When on leash, Mazey may bark at other dogs, but she is good off leash and enjoys the company of her foster brother and a family dog who visits. She would do fine as companion for another older dog (see video of her playing with Yukon). A cat can walk right by her and all she will do is sniff and ignore.
Her foster family describes Mazey as loyal and very easygoing. She loves being with you and will follow you around. She's friendly with all people including children. Inside the home, Mazey is free to roam and has never been crated. She knows to use the doggie door to go out in the yard where she loves to roll around on the grass. At night she likes to sleep in bed with foster mom and dad.
Mazey gets 3 short walks a day. 10 minutes at a time is plenty for her and she will suddenly plop down if she has had enough. Since she needs to keep trim enough to balance on three legs, her walks are important - so is watching her weight. She has a big appetite and practically inhales her food.
Mazey has had all necessary veterinary attention, including some dental work, and will be available soon for adoption.
