My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Samuel is one of a litter of 6 German Shepherd/Husky mix pups taken in by the Humane Society from their owner on October 1, 2020.  The mother is said to be a German Shepherd/Rottie mix and the dad is a Husky mix, so these guys have several breeds in them and they are fairly small for their age.  Because of this we estimate they will be no more than 50 pounds when full grown.  Although their ears are droopy  right now, they are likely to perk up as they grow.  All six pups are healthy and happy and looking for trouble, just like a puppy should!

HPHS will not adopt puppies to families with children under 2 years or where the eldest child is under 8 years old. This is not a criticism of children.  Instead, it is in recognition that children in this age group require a lot of attention as does the puppy, and we want to ensure the puppy receives all the attention and training it needs.

The pups will be available to go home  on a Foster-to-Adopt contract on or after October 10th.  This means you will be able to take the puppy home before it is neutered so you can start its training, but HPHS retains ownership of the pup until it is neutered as required by State law.  Neutering must occur when the pup is 4 to 6 months old.

The adoption fee for each puppy is $300.  This includes basic shots, deworming, neuter and micro-chipping if all of this is done through the Modoc Veterinary Center in Alturas, CA (where we are located).  Out of town adopters will need to pay for all of these procedures out of pocket, but they will receive a $100 refund upon proof of neuter.  All neuters must occur by January 5th 2021 to receive a refund and obtain formal ownership of the pup.
