My story

Gunner is 5 years old. He is crate trained and does very well on a leash walks. Gunner is a high energy baby he loves kids, however, because of his energy he will not do well with children under the age of 14-16 yrs old. He does not do well with cats at all. He does like other dogs but he is a resource gaurder with other animals so he needs to be an only dog. Gunner loves to play with toys especially rope toys and tug of war. He is very loving and has so much potential but needs someone knowledgeable with the working/herding dogs would be ideal for this special boy. He has been let down so many times. He just wants a family to love him. He is being fostered in Hampton, Virginia.

Adoption fee is $25. If interested please go to our website operationsaveashelterdog.org and apply.

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable dogs are all in various foster homes and can be met by contacting rescue. Rescue will then provide foster home's contact information. Meet and greets will be arranged between foster and potential adopters. We also have adoption events at Petsmart on various dates which can be checked on our Facebook page, Operation Save a Shelter Dog.

More about this rescue

Our Mission

Operation Save A Shelter Dog is a foster based, IRS-recognized 501c(3) rescue whose mission is to work with shelters on the East Coast by saving dogs at high risk of euthanasia or that have little hope of adoption in their current condition. Not only is it our goal to find furever homes for our dogs, but also to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, vaccinating and providing preventative care for their pets.
