My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COMING SOON
Zoe is a 2 1/5 yr old 40 # red merle Aussie that'll warm your heart with one glance at her multi-colored parti eyes. She'll make you laugh in ways you didn't know were possible, run and play like you never imagined, and then love you like velcro loves velcro. Throughout the day, Zoe is spunky; when she finally lays down to rest, she is a snuggler. She'd love to be part of your family. When Zoe was younger, she was hit by a car, sustaining a fracture of her spine. After the accident, it wasn't looking good- for months. But little Zoe was ever determined, you see, and today she proudly hops on three and a half strong legs! While her front right leg isn't very useful to her, Zoe will tell you that 3 our of 4 ain't bad! Some doctors have said she'd be better off with out her front leg, but others have said she uses it for balance and would be better keeping it. She has an appointment with a specialist soon to come up with the best plan for her, so she won't be able to go to her forever home until after her evaluation and possible treatment. In any case, Zoe has the drive and enthusiasm of any fully-four-legged friend, and she holds her own when playing with them too. Zoe is very talkative and energetic. Her owners should be active and patient to account for her boundless energy. They should be accepting of the sweetness and love she'll undoubtedly provide. Someone experienced with Australian Shepherds would be a big plus. It doesn't have to be all on you - she loves to hang out, wrestle and play tug of war with other dogs, so having a similarly sized, equally social sibling would be ideal, as well. Zoe is good with older kids, but it would be best if there are no small kids in the home due to her energy. She would do best with a securely fenced yard to run freely and work off her energy. We are taking 'pre-applications' for Zoe at this time, but she will not be available for adoption until late Nov. or early Dec. Zoe is spayed and up to date on all her vaccinations. She is microchipped and on monthly heartworm, flea and tick preventatives. Zoe is being fostered in the St. Louis, MO area. If you think Zoe is a good fit for your family and you are willing to wait until she has a full evaluation for her leg, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application
