My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOLIE is affectionate and has a terrific personality, easy going and she's beautiful. She's had a special job here in foster care - she has been the 'ears' for a young deaf dog :-) Folie gets daily playdates with other dogs of various sizes and ages and she's good with cats too. She has longer/fur around the neck area which makes her extra huggable :-) Sweet girl !

Important:
Do you live in our adopting area? (Santa Fe, Abq, Rio Rancho, Los Alamos general areas). Do you have another young playful friendly dog or possibly be interested in adopting her with her deaf friend Daisy?

Her adoption fee includes spaying, vaccine series, deworming, rabies, and microchip. Folie was born April 20, 2020.

Please read all info below. We're sorry to have to state this, but we've been bombarded with people asking us the very things we already state and just don't have the manpower to answer everyone. -- if you email us or fill out an application that does not fit the parameters of our procedures listed below we will not be replying to you. Thank you for your understanding!

We have specific adoption and Covid rules listed below!
Revised adoption policy
Due to Covid -19 pandemic and social distancing requirements, we've revised our adoption policy. First, please email (desertpawsnm@gmail.com) to inquire before you fill out the online application. (Please do not call or text). We are unable to do multi-dog/cat meetgreets or adoption events at this time or bring multiple animals to your house to choose from, so please only inquire if you're serious about adopting this particular animal(s). If you're just shopping around with several shelters and rescues, please let us know this. If your application is approved (which 'could' take up to one week) then we will contact you to set up a Zoom chat or ph call to answer questions/clarify anything and set up a day/time to bring the pet to you. Since we can't come into the home/yard due to Covid-19, we ask that you to send us pics /video of your home/yard/living area/current pets. We will discuss with you about meeting your other pets. At the meeting/adoption at your house (outside) please wear a mask (as will we) and have hand sanitizer.

We adopt locally to Central Abq, Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Rio Rancho. No out of area adoptions inquiries please. No young children for our adoptions please. Our animals are fostered and our foster families like to know their fosters are happy, healthy, and cared for during their lifetime - we appreciate staying in touch periodically through the years (a holiday card, social media, pics, videos, whatever works for you :-)

Happy Tails!
Thanks very much!

More about this rescue

We work with the animals at three local Indian tribes (pueblos). We have a spay/neuter called, Door2Door, we assist animals with medical emergencies, prevention, education. We rehab and re-home the unwanted, abandoned, and neglected. At the time of adoption, we bring the pet to your home to make sure all family members including all fur babies get along and all are onboard and committed to the pet. We have an adoption process and we like to stay in touch with the families for the life of the pet.
