My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hiya guys and gals,

UPDATE TO MY STORY:
So I was adopted about 10 months ago. There were other smaller dogs in the family that adopted me. These doggies were all trained to potty on potty pads. Since I was a puppy, I thought I was supposed to go there too. Turns out, that was NOT the case. I should have been properly trained to go outside like bigger doggies do.

The family did not train me to do that. They brought me back here to Lucies. I am so sad...I am a good doggie and can learn to do lots of things with the proper training. I just want to be loved and to please YOU. You can continue to read my early story below. I hope you can find it in heart to give me the proper chance I was not given before.

I'm Malibu and no, not like the Barbie! ;)

Here's my story:
An older couple began to see a very pregnant gem (my mommy) near their county home. They saw her for a number of days then she disappeared. Weeks later they saw her again coming out from underneath an abandoned house. It wasn't long before they began to see 10 puppies joining her. I was one of those puppies.

My mother would come and go, and then one day she never returned. :(

The kind couple began collecting us puppies and moving us to their backyard, offering us food and safety. They worked diligently to find us families and were successful with 4 of us, until that changed.. The kind gentleman suffered a heart attack and his sweet bride fell off a ladder breaking her collar bone. The rest of us puppies were still well cared for, but all other activities regarding the puppies had stopped.

What would happen to us now??? Well Lucies Project was contacted, and they are taking us in a few at a time as space becomes available. There are 3 of us here now, so that leaves 3 more of our siblings still to come.

We don't know why our mom left us, only other than to assume she could see that we would be well taken care of. We miss her, but am glad she at least got us to safety.

Do you think maybe you might want one of us? We are truly adorable and would love nothing more than to play or cuddle with you. We really want a family of our own. Come see us and we will steal your heart!

*** We strive to ensure our dogs are going to a safe, loving and caring home. Phone interviews are required for all adoptions****

Additional adoption info

Interested adopters contact our adoption volunteer either via email or phone. Our volunteer in turn talks to them more about the pet they are interested in. If the adopter seems like a good match, they are requested to complete an application. They come to the rescue location to meet the dog of interest. We also sometimes arrange a home visit to make sure the environment is suitable for the dog. If all is well, they will get a call from a volunteer letting them know they are approved for adoption. They will be provided copies of the vaccination and sterilization records. A delivery day will be arranged for the dog. Either the adopter may come and pick up the dog, or a volunteer can arrange to have the dog delivered. They sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. We do periodically contact our adopters to check up on the dog to make sure everyone is happy and healthy and enjoying their new life!

More about this rescue

Local Unity for Canines In Emergency Situations. We are a dog rescue organization, not a shelter or a pound!

We are a group of neighbors who, as a community effort, are helping the many strays and dumped dogs in the area. We take them in, care for them, feed - vaccinate - worm - socialize, and try to find them forever homes. We do depend on donations to help out, and will accept food, medication, bedding, fostering, and direct donations to Veterinarians.
