My story

Ruger is an incredibly handsome 4 year old purebred American Akita. He is friendly to new people, affectionate with those he knows, and likes to play tug-o-war! When it's time to sleep, Ruger carries his "baby" (stuffed animal) around and then snuggles up with it.

Before coming into rescue, Ruger lived in a home with kids, and another dog. We think he would be happiest being an only dog, and in a home with Like most Akitas, Ruger will do best in a home without other dogs, or children under the age of 18.

We want a successful, lifelong match between an Adopter and their new pet. We carefully evaluate each animal in our care and carefully screen each adopter to ensure there is a fit. We require any potential adopters to first complete an Adoption Application and go through a background, home, and reference check. All adopters are then required to sign an Adoption Agreement.

More about this rescue

We have designed and implemented a more proactive approach to rescue by working first to keep the dog in the home. We believe that begins with adopters knowing as much as they can about a dog's breed and characteristics before they adopt. We also provide unlimited, no cost support to families with the goal of creating a better relationship between the family and the dog, and help keep the dog in the home.
