Meet Bello! He is a 6.4 pound, approx 2 year old Chihuahua! He will be looking for his forever home, but he WILL need a patient home and time to decompress!
This is the deal...He is tiny and scared. His owner passed away about a month ago, and then the new family who took him in, the mom was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and cannot take care of him. So this is a lot of change for him. He growls, barks and tries to bite - he is giving warnings until he gets to know you, and this could take days. If you are familiar with the Chihuahua breed, when you have won him over, he will be the most loyal, loving Velcro dog ever!
He needs a few days to warm up, so be prepared it could take a week or LONGER before he lets you pet him. He is fine with other dogs. He just never lived with other dogs and would not be best to be adopted into a home where the family is looking for a playmate to another dog. He walks well on a leash and is potty trained.
He is fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
* We do require a fenced in yard for Bello.
His ideal home:
Bello loves to sleep under a blanket and be near his person. He needs a quiet home that does not have a high traffic of people. He is not a dog that would do well with being taken to places to
visit or socialize with people. He is best at his home with his person, who can be with him. He is best as an only pet. If multiple people in the home, Bello will attach to one person and will need additional time to warm up to the other person. Please note- if you meet his requirements and want to meet him- he is going to bark and growl, and run hide from you. He does not do well with meet and greets- you are a stranger to him and he will not warm up to you during a meet and greet. You must be prepared to be patient and win him over with lots of love and chicken or treats.
He will need a very committed, patient, and loving family! We are being very selective as Bello needs an experienced, commuted owner.
We require vet references and virtual home visit!
