My story

WORKING CAT. Astra is an enigma. We have concluded she is either semi-feral or exceptionally moody. She would do best as a FARM/RANCH/LARGE YARD cat where she has the freedom to come and go indoors/outdoors safely. Astra enjoys watching what people are doing, likes head and chin scratches when SHE wants them, and rubbing legs of people she is comfortable with. However, there are times she wants to slap people and we have been unable to predict the why and when. She is most definitely not a cat for kids. She is a fantastic huntress. She is confined indoors in the rescue but she hunts for catnip, treats, and toys. Astra does seek to get outside. She is independent and although she can tolerate an occasional cat or two she can be just as cranky to them as she is to people. We are looking for a farm or ranch type home where she can hunt to her hearts content during the day but come in for food and safety at night. Being mostly white she would be a predator's dream at night. She could also live successfully as a large yard cat with access to plenty of room to roam and and the ability to come indoors during the night and in bad weather. She will not be a pet per se, but does not run and hide from people either.. She has no experience with dogs. has been spayed, is up to date on her shots, has tested negative for Feline Leukemia, and has been microchipped. She has been deflead and dewormed. An application, landlord approval if renting, a safety homecheck, and adoption fee are required. Discount to seniors, military/veterans, and with proof of disability. Are you the special someone who can give our little momma the home she needs and deserves? She is ripe to bond with a special person or two and enjoy the life of a housecat.

More about this rescue

We rescue animals from high kill shelters or abandoned local strays and foster them until they find an adoptive home. Our southern branch also goes out on emergency rescue calls for cats in drain and sewer pipes, up trees, stuck in walls etc. Transport in available up and down the state of CA. We also TNR local stray and feral populations. The plight of homeless animals moves us deeply. It is unspeakably horrific to see gentle loving animals killed simply because they are homeless. While we cannot save them all, each one saved deserves it. We are a 501c3 registered, CA non-profit corporation.
