My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED 04-18-2019

Annetta is learning that being held is a good thing, but she really enjoys neck scratches and just being petted while she is snug in her bed.  She has to grow her confidence more before she is a "lap dog".

She is learning to walk on the leash and does very well with an IG companion walking along side to show her how it is done!

If you could love this sweet girl and have the patience to help her grow in confidence, see our adoption process and application at www.txigrescue.org

Original Bio:

With her red coat and stand-up ears, Annetta is a beautiful girl with the potential to flourish and shine!

Having come from the Texas 60 in November 2016, and thought to have been born around 2011, Annetta is a very timid girl, but has grown more comfortable and confident over time.

She loves going outside, but only if her foster mom/dad go with her.  She enjoys prancing and hopping around the fenced yard, with a big “doggy” grin, and being in the company of her humans and other Iggy companions.

Most loud noises do not bother her, including the vacuum cleaner, but she does not like loud barking from her Iggy companions.   She is easily startled and will run to her bed, which is her safe place.

She is slowly learning to be held, although that is not her favorite thing.  She does enjoy neck scratches and just being petted while in her bed, but has quite a way to go before she is a “lap dog” if ever.

Because she is skittish and not fully trusting, her response is to run.  Should she escape out the door or from the yard, she would be impossible to catch.    We are trying to get her to walk on the leash, but she is still overwhelmed when out of the backyard or house.

All she needs now are patient and attentive owners in a quiet home – hopefully with at least one human that is home most of the time to help her build her trust and confidence.  One or two gentle, but playful, dogs for companionship would be good for her, but no young children, as she is easily startled.

If you have patience to work and love this sweet girl, please ask about Annetta!
