"Hi I'm Leo and I'm an 8 year old mini schnauzer who loves to snuggle but still has plenty of energy! My favorite things are snuggling with you on the couch, going outside, car rides, and the greenies dental treats my foster parents have been giving me. I am house-broken and crate trained, and respond to the commands "sit", "stay", and "crate."
As much as I love snuggling and spending time with my humans, it has to be on my terms, because I am fearful of new people and dogs. I have strong boundaries and don't like to be picked up, hugged from behind, or have your hands/another dog in my face if I don't know you well. I have been known to growl and snip if triggered. It took me about a week and a half to settle into my foster parents' home with their dog, who I don't mind but don't really want to play with. My foster parents have been trying to socialize me, and think it's possible that I will get better with other dogs with constant practice.
My foster parents have been working on my fear, anxiety, and occasional food aggression, but I need a quiet home where I can be the only dog -- also, no kids please! My new family should respect my boundaries until we get to know each other, and be patient with me while I adjust to my new home. But don't worry, once I am comfortable with you I will never stop asking for pets or sitting as close to you on the couch as possible."

Dogs will only be adopted to residents of the following: Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and DC.
Adopters must agree to take the dog through obedience training within 3 months of adoption (unless the dog is over age 10).
Adopters must agree to keep the dog current on vaccinations and heart worm, flea, tick prevention on a year round basis.
