My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Moe is an australian shepherd mix, mostly black with pretty brindling on his paws and face. He is the perfect combination of calm and fun, affectionate and laidback. He loves human attention and, as you can see in the picture below, he also enjoys other dogs - in this case a little white dog who ran up and kissed him in the dog park. All kisses are good in Moe's book!

Moe was rescued out of a pound when he was about 2 years old, and was used as a laboratory dog for four years. It was not a bad experience for Moe - he was very well treated and the experiments they ran on him only involved him testing different medicines in his food. No pain, but maybe just a little gain in the calorie department! Before Moe was released from the lab they did a complete physical on him, and he is perfectly healthy. Moe was a big favorite among the scientists and technicians at the lab, and when he was no longer needed, they were very concerned that he find a loving permanent home. They grew very attached to him and want him to live with a family that feels the way they do about him. So do we.

Because of his lab life, Moe has been socialized very well in many ways. He is extremely comfortable around people and other dogs, and is unusually relaxed about being handled during grooming and nail clipping. His foster mom accidentally nicked his ear during a trim and he just gave a little squeak. On the other hand, he's unfamiliar with houses, and things like televisions and appliances are completely new to him. So is sleeping on a bed - he sometimes falls off in the night! Moe is adjusting very well to all his new experiences though. For example, he was a bit leery of the camera at first during his photo shoot, but after a sniff and a couple of minutes, he became a regular ham.

Moe is a wonderful boy who's going to make some family very happy.
