Schatzi is a Maine Coon-mix, male, DOB: 12/13/19.

An adorable and adoring ball of fluffy sweetness, Schatzi is all heart and personality. A fearless, sometimes curiously brash young cat, he thoroughly enjoys ruff-n-tumble playtime with other felines -- whether big cats or kittens and just about anything in between, he’ll be seeking them out with invitations to join him in cute play antics.

Equally content to play and conquer new feats all on his own too, Schatzi has an adventurer’s spirit and enjoys independently prowling and stalking shadows, dust bunnies, toys, and sometimes other cats – fair game, whatever is available; he’ll also be looking for and inviting some vigorous interactive playtime with his people. In fact, he often calls out to his favorite people "for a lift" out of his kennel and off to his next adventures.

More looking to operate in his comfort zone than having reservations and not shy in-the-least, Schatzi is a confident, playful, pretty active, and entirely earnest young feline who is just darn happy to be in the company of people and other cats and kittens. We expect Schatzi to mature into a fairly large cat – a robustly built, extremely handsome guy with keenly animated expression, notably set-off with those expressively warm and radiant eyes, and all the while continuing to be an avid hunter of toy mice and dust bunnies.

Schatzi, along with mom and littermate: Flossy, Scooter, Jessie, and Raven, were rescued from animal control and placed in a Monroe SPCA medical foster home where they could get the care they needed: they were treated for horrendous flea infestations, Giardia, Coccidia, and Roundworm.

Now after having plenty of time to grow into his large Maine Coon ancestry, Schatzi is robustly happy and healthy as well as extremely friendly. He's looking for a forever family who can give him the time and attention a maturing young cat needs to continue growing his confidence and social skills.

Schatzi is best suited as an indoor pet and companion for a home with a calm, low-active lifestyle and no active young children under the age of six (6). He is comfortable with other compatible cats and kittens, and he’s comfortable in the presence of well-mannered, cat-friendly dogs, but he’ll need some adjustment time to warm-up and settle into his new surroundings. As with all Monroe SPCA adoptable animals, a home visit and a meet-n-greet with any housemate pets will be required prior to adoption.

All Monroe SPCA cats available for adoption have an adoption fee of $85.00. This fee includes the cat being spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, dewormed, tested for FeLV and FIV, and microchipped with lifelong registration prior to adoption.
