My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi - I'm Joey!

I had a really tough start in life. I had a home when I was a kitten, but when my family moved they tossed me outside and left me alone. I didn't know where to find food or shelter. I was chased and tormented by some people and by other animals. I was terrified outside and lonely. I lived this way, trying my best to survive for two long years. It was really hard. Thankfully, someone kind who had been putting food out for me made sure I was rescued. I am so grateful and I love the indoor only life!

I am listed as Special Needs because of how shy I will be when I move to my forever home. It takes me a long time to trust anyone new because of how horribly I was treated in the past. I need a home that is calm and that will be patient and understanding of me while I warm up and get to know you. I also need my forever home to be with a person/people who will help me adjust - who will spend time with me, petting me and talking to me so that I know I am safe.

Once I have time to warm up I am a total lap cat. I also love belly rubs. And I love lounging around on cozy pet beds and looking out the windows, too. I am incredibly sweet and I am very gentle.

I do prefer a home *with another cat who would like to have a loving feline buddy.* While being fostered at Advocates 4 Animals, I am fostered with another cat. We love to snuggle together and sit together on our foster parents laps.

Due to my past, I will do best in a very *calm home* and a home that will be very patient and understanding with me while I take time to warm up and adjust. I have so much love to share and I hope that you'll be the dedicated, loving, forever home I've been dreaming about!
