We get a great number of our cases through social media. Facebook to be exact. A couple of weeks ago we were tagged in a post about a petite calico cat with her eye LITERALLY bitten out of her head. The remnants of her eye were dried in the socket and big lacerations on her cheek told the full story. We had her trapped and arranged for our volunteers to transport her from Orlando to Ocala. The following day, she was taken in for surgery to remove that eye (or what was left of it). She came trough surgery well and looks so much better now. She is so afraid. Understandably. We are not sure if we will be able to reach her or not. Her foster mom has many special needs kitties so there is not a lot of time to commit to taming her. If we could find a foster home with more free time, there would likely be more progress. Or perhaps she can be allowed to live free as a feral... but in a safer place than the awful streets of Orlando... as part of a colony that is often targeted by individuals that hate cats. She was never safe there. Most certainly not now.Lily's foster mom has been using Churu and Squeeze ups to try making friends with her. She sometimes bites the package but thats ok. She is so insecure and unhappy right now. It is sad and we are praying for a better arrangement for this girl. She has used up a life or two, and is ready for easy living.
