**EUTHANIZED 12/1/2022*
Rudy is a magnificent one-year old male Pit Bull Terrier/Shar-Pei mix who was surrendered by his owner on February 2, 2021.
Rudy has a tan short smooth coat with a small patch of white on his chest, a long crooked tail, and an adorable face with a wrinkled brow, expressive brown 'teddy bear' eyes, black shading on his muzzle, and short semi-erect ears.
At less than a year old, Rudy is merely a very large over-grown puppy and is full of youthful energy.
Rudy thoroughly enjoyed his 15-minutes of fame with HSOV kennel tech Brad Loyland when he had first photos taken on February 4th. There was snow on the ground that day, and Rudy made the most of his outdoor time romping/playing in the snow. Rudy posed for some great mischievous-looking stances as he tossed snow up in the air with his cute muzzle.
His previous owner told us that Rudy had spent his days outdoors in his fenced-in yard or indoors confined to a crate. He was confined to an indoor crate during the night. Rudy's normal exercise routine was a run/long walk each day in addition to being a lap dog :) :)
Rudy knows a few basic commands ('sit' and 'easy').
Rudy tends to be a little too rough with young children (because of his size and playful energy) .. And he doesn't realize that toys which belong to children aren't to be taken away from them for his own pleasure :(
We don't know yet how Rudy feels about other dogs or cats, but he did seem a little too interested in cats during his photo session.
Rudy is housetrained but does have occasional accidents.
Rudy weighs 93 lbs and is very strong on a leash, so he would do best with an experienced handler.
Rudy was neutered on February 9, 2021 and was also given rabies vaccine.
These updated photos of Rudy were taken on March 13, 2021 when Spring seemed to be making an early appearance in the mid-Ohio Valley, and Rudy looked even more handsome in the afternoon sunlight. Rudy is still very playful and full of youthful energy. He would love to find a home with a family or individual who has an active lifestyle and could give him the exercise and playtime that he loves so much!
