Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UPDATED 2-23-2021: We are no longer accepting any new applications for Raven's puppies at this time. We have selected 7 wonderful families whose applications are being processed at this time. If any of these should fall through, we will again open the applications back up to the public. Thank you for your understanding.
Please read entire ad before applying so you understand the adoption process for these puppies! We are a rescue, and when we have litters of puppies for adoption, we receive THOUSANDS of applications and emails about them, so PLEASE be patient with us!
Our little rescue was in the process of rescuing a beauty of a lab named Raven from Louisiana, when we found out she had delivered 7 babies! We never leave family behind, so now it is time for Raven's babies to find their forever families! There are 6 boys (Crane, Falcon, Finch, Fisher, Martin, Oriole) and one girl (Dove) in the litter. The puppies are all being fostered in Georgia before they come to Maryland to their forever homes. We are taking applications until this ad is updated at the TOP to say that applications are closed, and there is only one way to apply for a puppy - send an email to MJsAnimalSanctuary@gmail.com to request an adoption application. We will not accept applications from other rescues, shelters or websites, only from our email address.
ONLY APPROVED ADOPTERS will be allowed to meet the puppies on adoption day! Approved adopters will be given pick of the litter in the order they are approved by being assigned a number 1-7. The number you get is the order in which you will get to select the puppy you adopt from whichever ones are remaining when your number is called. The puppies will be brought to a central location in the MD/DC/VA area on a given date (probably in late March, 2021) where adopters will be given 15 minutes each to spend with the puppies to select one. If a decision is not made within the 15 minute window provided, the next adopter in line will have a turn to select their puppy. This will be a PRIVATE event, masks on, and social distancing enforced, extended only to approved adopters.
Now, a little info about each puppy in Raven's litter (and no, we have no information on who their father was). The puppies have access to a monitored dog-door for pottying.
Finch: Finch is the super laid back. He likes to sit back and watch all that’s happening, but when he decides to join in—look out! He is going to be a big boy, but he has great manners and is super sweet. He does like to stick his feet in his bowl. He could benefit from a slow or grazing feeder. Finch gets along with all of his litter mates and behaves well with cats.
Oriole (Orrie) is hilarious. He hates to be left behind and let’s you know it. I swear he’s saying “Help Me!” at his most vocal. He is good about letting himself out the doggie door when he needs to potty, unless somethings going on. Heaven forbid he miss out on something. He knows his basic commands but gets easily distracted. I’m curious about cats, but I want to play with them and sometimes I’m a bit too rough. I leave them alone when they tell me to. I do not like the wet leaves or cold. My foster mom has to carry me out into the yard to avoid the wet leaves.
Fisher is a pistol! He is beats to his own drum. He is the most likely from his litter to strike out on his own. He is very curious. He loves to be where his person is. But watch out! He is a climber and frequently sneaks out of his play pen when you aren’t looking. He sleeps in his kennel very well and usually takes his meals in it. I love cats! Sometimes too much, but my foster mom has found me grooming Miss Stella—when she lets me.
Martin is super sweet. He looks slim, but don’t let that fool you. He’s just as heavy as his siblings. He is pretty mild mannered but he loves to play rough. He listens very well and can often be overlooked in the chaos of the litter. He takes medicine like a champ. Need a pill—just put it in my food—no pill pocket required. Need to take a liquid, I will happily open my mouth for you to shoot it in! I’m pretty good with cats when it’s just me, but I can get caught up in the litter and get a little too rough.
Crane had a rough start. He came down with pneumonia but has bounced back quickly and has received a clean bill of health. I will eat any pill you throw in my food, but hold up with the liquid stuff! I will let myself out to potty during the day, but I like to play so much sometimes I hold it until it’s too late. I am the instigator of all play and especially love tug of war. I do pretty well with cats when it’s just me. But sometimes I can get too much into mob mentality and scare the cats.
Falcon is the big boy of the litter. I look like a tank. I get really excited about food and often knock my bowl over if it’s too light. I would benefit from a slow or grazing feeder. I love to play but I don’t get caught up in the mob. When my foster mom tells me to stop, I do. I will let myself out to go potty but I still have a few accidents. I may be big, but I’m a love bug I want to snuggle when I can and can now jump up into the chair with my foster mom.
Dove is a lover. There is a reason I call her Lovie Dovie. I love to play with everyone, but I’m also okay with doing my own thing. I am the smallest and only girl in my litter. But don’t let that fool you, I will take on the big boys. And by big boys, I mean my foster brother who is a 78 lb Redbone Coonhound! He loves me. I am close to being fully potty trained. I will come to you and whine or let myself out when I need to go potty. If I’m walking in circles with my nose to the ground—I need to go! I have my basic commands down. My favorite thing to do is snuggle with my person. I love to be in someone’s lap. I’m probably going to be about 45-50 lbs like my Mom. But keep in mind, that means I’m going to be a big lapdog!
