My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Charlotte IN NEED OF RESCUE!

Charlotte Needs a home that is a generally Quiet environment.

Charlotte Only 6yrs, Beautiful, Mostly Black except a Small area of white on her chest, SHINY and SiLKY SMOOTH!!!

She is very timid, sweet, and extremely skittish especially with louder people.
Once she WARMS up to You, Charlotte is a "LOVE BUG". Her fur is Silky Soft. She loves to play with the laser and has super sensitive hearing,
Just touch the laser chain an she comes running to play! During the day, this Sweetie prefers a comfy spot near a window to bask in the sun as she loves her sun puddles.

BEDTIME:
Once Charlotte warms up to you and after you get in bed, usually within 1 minute, she will hop on the bed, Plop Down down leaning on you, No Fuss, No Muss!

Charlotte is very friendly but has not had the opportunity to really shine. Charlotte grew up around a Pack Leader cat who was/is a
'Scaredy-Cat’ ... at the first sound of a noise his tendency to run and hide has made it challenging for her to do anything else but follow suit ... and so, sadly, she followed and is ‘on edge’ and experiences anxiety on a daily basis.

For a long time now, Charlotte has been around many other cats and when she does venture out of hiding, any one of several kitties chase her back to hiding ... under a bed or bureau ... and thus cause her to throw up her meal.

She also throws up from eating too quickly so she needs a home that can leave the dry food out all the time.

Charlotte generally comes when you call her and as I can see she is Ready to come out of her shell and be your Cuddle Bug!

DOGS:
Charlotte is ok with dogs so If you have a calm doggie, she will work out fine in your home.

CATS:
Charlotte likes company, yours and/or a calm cat.

Charlotte likes older adult male cats, she does like to play-wrestle with two of the 4 mature male cats we have at Duffies Dames.

She likes one female cat and she has just been introduced to another female kitty and both girls are fine.

Rescue Charlotte Kitty, bring her into your home, You'll be happy you brought her into your life and give her a new life in your forever loving home.

More about this shelter

Inspired by the life of Kathy Lynn Duffie, a disabled veteran, injured in Iraq who was a passionate animal rescue advocate. When Kathy passed away, seven loving and adorable kitties and two loyal and playful doggies were left without a home.

Duffie’s Dames Animal Rescue and Shelter is a foster-based non-profit animal rescue organization based in Indian River County, FL.

We were founded in October 2019 and since then, we’ve rescued, re-homed and provided medical care Spay/Neutering, medications and dental care and surgeries through various local veterinary offices.

By working with a group of committed volunteers, foster homes, we help to facilitate the placement of animals while providing them with loving, temporary care, and to find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes.

Duffie’s Dames relies completely on your generosity to provide donations (both financial and in-kind) and volunteers. We do not receive any government funding at this time.

All rescued animals are housed in volunteer foster homes until an appropriate forever home has been found.

Duffie’s Dames is committed to every animal that we rescue. We do not euthanize animals because they have been with us too long or for medical reasons. Rather, we provide sick and elderly animals a sanctuary to live out the rest of their lives in a cage-free environment. If, for any reason, an adopter is no longer able to keep their adopted animal, we are committed to bringing it back into our Rescue and Sanctuary program.
