My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Cole is a sweet boy who was surrendered to a shelter because the other dogs in his home were picking on him. But Cole has foster fur siblings smaller than him and would do well with similar dogs in his furever home. As always, meet and greets are required with any resident or frequently visiting dogs!

He is still somewhat timid with new people and needs slow intros with people who come to visit. Once he knows you, he's perfect! No small children for this guy - Cole forgets he’s a big boy and may knock small children over with his big dog energy! He also forgets about personal space and loves to snuggle up to you, he may even try to sit on your lap! He loves toys (stuffies don’t stand a chance) and going for walks. He can pull in his initial excitement but settles quickly and is responsive to correction. His ears perk up when he hears tongue clicks and he comes trotting right to your side! He’s very good with his harness and leash, and has plenty of energy for medium distance walks. Cole is a very good boy and, while crate trained, is ok to be left uncrated. He does need a home with a fully fenced yard (physical fence, not invisible), as he loves exploring. He’s also very smart and eager to please, making him easy to train.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require each applicant to complete an adoption application, followed by a home visit. We also contact personal and veterinarian references. We want to make sure that the next home our furbabies go to, is their last, and that they will be loved like a member of the family.

We are a foster based rescue, but do also have a small shelter. You can contact us at diamondunderdogs@yahoo.com to setup an appointment to come out and check out some of our adoptables.

More about this rescue

Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue is a non profit animal rescue organization that is run by a dedicated group of volunteers. Our mission is to protect the welfare of animals, one life at a time, from unnecessary euthanasia. From high kill shelters to foster homes to caring adoptive families, Diamonds in the Ruff handles every aspect of the rescue process. Our animals are examined, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and receive necessary medical treatment. Foster homes are used to provide sanctuary and ensure a successful placement. Our goal is to make the adoption process a kind, informative and rewarding experience because we believe that every animal can become a treasured family pet.

Why we do it:
4 million animals are euthanized each year in the United States.
That is 300,000 a month
Over 11,000 each day
Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue works tirelessly to decrease this statistic.
