My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there!!!

My name is Vaughn, pronounced "von". It is of Welsh origin meaning "small". Hmmm, I'm not really small, but hey it's cool name anyway!!

I was part of a huge hoarding situation. My owner had passed away and his wife was all we had to take care of the 30+ dogs in her care. She was not in the best of health :(

Lucies was called and they came to the rescue!! So many of them gave up their time to come and rescue us, a few at a time until a space could be for us at the rescue.

We were so lucky...after all, Lucies is THE BEST rescue organization on the planet!!!

So they brought us in, had us vetted and placed us in their care. I'm telling you, I only dreamed of being there and now here I am!!!

While I love it here and am learning a lot, I really want a family of my very own. One that I can be hugged and loved by for the rest of my doggie life. I sure do hope that family is YOU!!!!!

*** We strive to ensure our dogs are going to a safe, loving and caring home. Phone interviews are required for all adoptions****

Additional adoption info

Interested adopters contact our adoption volunteer either via email or phone. Our volunteer in turn talks to them more about the pet they are interested in. If the adopter seems like a good match, they are requested to complete an application. They come to the rescue location to meet the dog of interest. We also sometimes arrange a home visit to make sure the environment is suitable for the dog. If all is well, they will get a call from a volunteer letting them know they are approved for adoption. They will be provided copies of the vaccination and sterilization records. A delivery day will be arranged for the dog. Either the adopter may come and pick up the dog, or a volunteer can arrange to have the dog delivered. They sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. We do periodically contact our adopters to check up on the dog to make sure everyone is happy and healthy and enjoying their new life!

More about this rescue

Local Unity for Canines In Emergency Situations. We are a dog rescue organization, not a shelter or a pound!

We are a group of neighbors who, as a community effort, are helping the many strays and dumped dogs in the area. We take them in, care for them, feed - vaccinate - worm - socialize, and try to find them forever homes. We do depend on donations to help out, and will accept food, medication, bedding, fostering, and direct donations to Veterinarians.
