My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chance is a combo of cute, crazy beagle pup and low-key, cuddle bug. We believe Chance is about 1 yr old, he is 20lbs and soft as can be (though he is usually dirty and covered in slobber from playing with the other pups ).

In February, Chance came to HERO as a feral pup with 2 cherry eyes and a serious lack of confidence in people. His cherry eyes gone, he is full vetted and enjoying being a puppy again. Since Chance was originally feral, he will need a rescue dog savvy new family that will willing to give Chance the time he needs to decompress and learn to trust.

Chance loves to bark & howl at the unknown (like if a ball blows in the wind to a new spot in the yard ). He also loves playing with balls, but is not great at fetch as he prefers to fetch the ball then run aimlessly about the yard instead of bringing it back. Chance is friendly with all furry friends and has been able to keep up with the rowdy bigger hounds in the house. When Chance runs out of energy, he is a huge cuddle bug.

Chance was adopted but returned to HERO as the adopters lived in a rural area that was very wooded, had barking dogs in the distance and the sound of gunshots in the distance with caused Chance’s fearful side to take over. At this home, Chance did love his dad, so we know that while Chance trusts woman more easily, he can be won over by a man.

Chance will need a home with another pup as he loves to play and finds a lot of comfort and guidance in other pups. While Chance has been walking well on a leash, we want Chance to go to a home with a fenced in yard. Due to Chance’s fear of the unknown, walks can be interesting when Chance sees or hears something new. Chance is fully vetted, housetrained with a doggy door, leash trained and is crate trained (though he prefers to sleep in bed).
