Let me introduce you to Juno! Also known as JunoBuno, June Bug, JunieBJone or JB for short! She is a beautiful 6 month old Mastiff x Rottweiler. Juno is a big puppy and will continue to grow into a nice big girl! Juno is about 60lbs now but will get a lot bigger still. She has a bright golden colouring, the softest combination coat, a big square Rottweiler face, with squishy Mastiff wrinkles and body shape, and the soulful eyes and expression of a Rottweiler. She is a beautiful dog with an even more wonderful temperament and personality.

Juno was named quickly after seeing her photo for the first time. Her big smiling face and black rimmed eyes stood out to me immediately! Her golden colour reminded me of Royalty, which is where JUNO came from - Queen of Heaven - more like Queen of the house! Her name suits her perfectly (as do the many nickname possibilities that come along with it) and she responds well to it! At the moment she is laying beside me and looking back and forth from the treat bag to me and back; she knows this move will work on me.

Juno would do well in almost any home situation that has a large fenced yard for her to play in. She is calm and quiet indoors (unless she is playing loud with her Foster sister), and barks rarely - they sound more like an old man sneeze-coughing - but in a cute way! She would do best in a home with access to a backyard as Juno will ask to go out (yes - ASK! She is so smart!) and then she will stay outside until we remind her to come back in! She loves to lay in the grass and smell absolutely everything. Her recall needs work, so an open space may not be best yet, but when working on a long leash, Juno stays close by. By having a safe, fenced yard she can explore to her hearts content, but this doesn’t make up for the daily walks she needs as well.

Juno enjoys all forms of exercise offered to her. She is a puppy and has plenty of puppy energy that needs burning off. She is working on her confidence near louder roads, so gradual exposure to busy streets will be a must. She will not be a suitable big city dog, and we will be looking for a rural home for her or a quiet subdivision. Walks around the neighbourhood and through the parks and trails are great! Juno walks well on the leash, but this will need to continue to be reinforced.

What Juno loves best though is a rope toy and a belly rub! Juno is a quick moving pup, so a couch cuddle may only last a minute or so before she decides it is time to play again! As the puppy energy dwindles, the cuddle energy will increase. She responds very well to love and affection. We don’t think she received a lot of attention or love in her previous home so she's going for all she can get now! Juno is wonderful with every adult she has met and will allow you to do anything to her if she's told she's a good girl and some snuggles accompany it. She LOVES to be brushed and will lie still while you brush her for any length of time. Juno has been amazing during her stay with us. She has slept through the night with no crying (with the assistance of some Calming Jazz - Girl LOVES jazz!). Juno should be taken out promptly when she wakes up, as any excitement prior to that might lead to an accident. We are currently working on teaching Juno that carpet is not the same as grass, so she should be monitored in a carpeted home. She is crate trained and knows to lay down before food is served. She is learning ‘Crate, Bed and In’ as commands. She feels very safe in her crate and would benefit from having one around as a safe space. Juno does need reminders to rest as she would rather play than sleep. Overall, she has been a breeze to foster in terms of basic house training!
Juno’s past life is unclear but her experiences have made her apprehensive when meeting new dogs. It took her time to become settled with her foster sister, but once the ice broke, they have been best friends ever since! She is slowly showing interest in meeting and playing with other dogs and will benefit from an owner who will advocate and show patience with her during this process. We think she would do well in a home with another friendly, well-behaved dog, but this is not a necessity for her, Juno would do just as well being the only dog and getting all the attention to herself. Juno has not had an opportunity to interact with cats or children, but we believe with her loving nature, she would do fine with children over 8yrs old. She is a large girl and will be able to knock small children over,. She will feed off of the energy of younger children and this will result in an over excited, large and rowdy puppy. A quieter home is best for her. Juno is a soft dog, with a gentle nature, and we believe that gregarious, loud, and rowdy children would excite or scare her too much. But she would love the attention from older kids who would love to pet her and play nicely in the yard.

Juno is being taught basic obedience in her foster home and now knows to "sit" “Lay down” and sometimes “Stay”. She is being taught to sit upon greeting people. Juno is not a dog that jumps up which is very nice indeed. Her new family should commit to continuing obedience training to bring out the best in this smart dog. Juno will not be a suitable dog for first time dogs owners. We are looking for a family or person with breed experience in owning and training Rottweilers and/or Mastiffs. We need her people to continue the work we have started with her to bring out her confidence and increase her socialization. A dedication to advanced obedience classes at a reputable training facility will be a must for anyone interested in Juno so please ask yourself if you are willing to put in the time and effort to train this dog to an advanced level at dog school before you apply for her.

Juno is a happy, healthy, beautiful, kind, friendly girl who deserves a great, loving home. Juno is looking for a forever home to share her love and personality. Could this be yours?
