🎤Introducting Wally up for adoption Virginia Beach VA 🎤Wally is 19 weeks old & 45lbs, Old English sheepdog.Sheepdogs are low shedding but required daily brushing and professional grooming monthly. He is a highly active affecfionate loving playful puppy who needs a social home.he needs an owner who wants a dog to sleep in bed with them. A owner who wants a dog on the couch with them. A owner who for his whole life will find ways to make his world better each day. A homeowner who is able to get out and about with him several times a week and walk him 2x a day. Someone who can demonstrate physical fitness to keep him both physically fit but mental stimulated as well.
Ideally Wally's new owner will be a stay at home dog parent.
Wally's home will have 1 or 2 other sheepdogs or large female friend dogs no male does and No small dogs under 30 lbs in home will be considered or prey animals) recent prior dog ownership and vet verification is required we will not adopt him to new dog owners or dog owners who have not had a dog in over 3 years. He will grow to be around 100lbs. If your (only )current dog is of advanced age he is not going to be a good fit for you he needs a playmate able to keep up with him.
No children under 12 in the home or grandkids no daycare or visiting kids under 12 more than 10 hrs a week.
adults in the home must have the likelihood you will outlive him and have the energy required to keep up with a puppy. If you can not run 2 miles a day without issues please do not apply.
Homeowners with single family detached homes with large secure physically fenced yards are required.
At least 1 stay at home non working parent or part time worker less than 24hrs a week *covid working at home will not be considered a substitute. He needs someone with time to devote to him. Day works are ok we can not consider shift workers or night workers it would be to stressful on a puppy. You must be able to play/potty and engage him with food every 4 hrs on work days.
Knowledge of the stubborn nature of old english sheepdogs or like breed is required.
Grooming reference will be required and proof that you financially stable is required.
Wally was surrendered for reasons surrounding medical costs for cancer. After coming to us he had emergency surgery on his mouth infection and addition tests and he does not have cancer. The prior vet and pathology was wrong he had a broken tooth which got grossly infected and he is very healthy. In light of that adopters will have and maintain dog insurance on Wally for his whole life and show proof of payment up front for 1st year.
Puppy training/obedience classes proof of prepayment will be required no less than 4 sets of classes(no board and train). If you can not training him yourself with the guidance of a trainer in person an old english sheepdog is not the dog for you.
Sheepdogs are stubborn and required consistent training all of their lives.
They are a guardian by nature and independent thinkers.
He is already very independent and showing signs that he will need a firm but loving owner.
If you travel a lot he is not the dog for you.
Applications will be required to submit a letter about yourself what your current dogs day to day is like and why you feel you would be a good home for Wally.
Photos and evidence of your ability to commit to daily activity.

Also if you are likely to relocate or move in the next year do not apply.
His adoption fee is set at the rate due to his age and high demand of his breed.
Nothing is up for negotiation do not insult us by asking.
Wally is a truly fantastic puppy he is friendly and loving and enjoys playing and engaging with lots of people. We have been socializing him with lots of different things, people and animals.
His adoption fee is $1200 as a pure old english sheepdog puppy. Approved Adopter and anyone living in the home with you must come to him to meet and adopt no shipping/transport companies. He is currently 45lbs
Meeting are set up in outdoor public Locations for safety. If you are pre approved to adopt with another old english sheepdog rescues you must apply and meet above guidelines but priority will be given to those applicants with email references from that rescue director to us.
