My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name was originally Alma because people saw me and knew that I had the will to live. I came from our county shelter where I was going to be euthanized because they couldn't take care of my medical needs. This amazing rescue called Saving Paws, helped my foster family save me and get me the medical attention that I needed. When I was at the shelter they moved me in a cart, and then I was left in a cage where I was unable to walk. I sat and had pretty much given up :( Then, this nice person came to meet me and brought me treats. The next day she picked me up and my road to recovery started. My kind foster Dad picked me up and took me outside a few times a day so that I could make on my own. I tried so hard to get up myself but couldn't so I army crawled for awhile. I never had one accident. My foster Mom could see that I was potty trained and encouraged me to go on my own. Saving Paws got me to the Neurologist who put me on medicine that helped me feel so much better. Slowly I got stronger. One day it happened, I started to walk. It was scary and I was rocky on my feet but my foster parents believed in me and showered me with love and praise all the time. Then it just got better from there. I felt like a dog again. I started walking, running on my own. I love my foster family and they love me but I'm ready to find my true forever home. They have cats, other dogs and a young child and I love them all. They tell me what a good girl I am all the time. One dog is a puppy and a little hyper so I spend most of my time with my friend Jerome, we walk together everyday (see video). I'm a really fun, easy going pup. I just want to be near my people. I have great leash manners, don't pull at all. My foster parents wonder how anyone could have given me up, they say I'm pretty much the perfect dog. My first few years might not have been the easiest as I was found covered in ticks and my bottom teeth are worn down; however; my life now is the best! I finally feel ready for my next step to my forever home. I'm about 5-6 years young and have a ton of love and life left. To find out more about me and meet me, please fill out the application with Saving Paws Rescue. They saved me and gave me a second chance at life.

If you can give Alma an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.com/adoption-form/

We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. We are an all-volunteer organization. It may take a couple of days to process an application and complete reference checks.

Thank you for your interest in saving the life of a dog.
