My story

*Due to rescuer being very ill, all dogs are in desperate need!!!

Tyson is a small/medium, black, male spitz/terrier mix (30-35 lbs) who was saved from being put down at a shelter. Tyson was very scared when he first got to the shelter and was terrified of people reaching over his head. He is very close to being housebroken because he's that smart! Now Tyson loves to put the leash on and go for walks, which are more like runs for his little legs with the people he is comfortable with!

Tyson is very energetic and great with dogs who can match his energy and tolerate it as well. He is a professional cat investigator where he is now, so we don’t think he’d be good in homes with them. Because of his energy levels and uncertainty with new people, we don’t think homes with kids would be good for him. Tyson is full of fun and life. He lightens up every room and heart!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home animals are healthy, spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and on heartworm preventitive (if dog,) and flea & tick preventitive.

If you would like to adopt a pet from Almost Home, start by completing our application, which is available online at www.almosthometn.org. Our adoption process includes reference checks, a home visit, a one week trial period, and a contract. Our goal is to find the best fit for our animals, and for their new families.

ADOPTION FEES:

The adoption fee for a CAT is $85 or two for $145. KITTENS are $100 or two for $185. The adoption fee for kittens includes the cost of spaying/neutering and their rabies shot when they are old enough (usually five months).

The adoption fee for a DOG is $150 or two for $265. PUPPIES are $200 or two for $365. The adoption fee for puppies includes the cost of spaying/neutering and their rabies shot when they are old enough (usually five months).

The adoption of more animals, or a different combination of animals, are welcome and fees will be reduced.

Micro-chipped cats and dogs are an additional $15.

NOTE: Some cats and dogs have a different fee than those listed above. It is noted on their posting. Mature pet adoption fees are lower to encourage people to adopt these wonderful animals who have a lot of love to give. The adoption fee for pure bred or desirable mixed breed dogs and cats is based on the average fee charged by area rescues and/or breed specific rescues.

ADOPTION FEES COVER LESS THAN 75% OF THE COST OF VETTING OUR ANIMALS. WE RELY ON DONATIONS AND GRANTS TO COVER THE REMAINDER.
