My story

Will-O-Wisp had a very tough start in life. He was trapped by animal control from a home that was hoarding cats inside and outside their home. He was one of he unlucky ones that was forced to fend for himself outside. It must have been so terrifying for him. It is a testament to his courage that he survived at all. He had some access to food, but he was small and underweight when he came to us. His interaction with people was likely minimal. He is a little guy but is tough as nails. He loves other cats but is a little leery of humans right now. He has made great strides since he came into foster care. He accepts chin rubs, loves to rub your legs, marking you as his own. He even will come out and greet you when you come into the room. The purrfect home for him would be someone who has a friendly cat that will be his buddy and is willing to work with him in a small room until he gets comfortable. If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website and complete an application. This is not a commitment, but when we receive it, someone will contact you within 48 hours. The application is the first step in our process. Once you are approved, we can make arrangements for you to meet any of our cats or kittens. If you are not sure which one you might be interested in, we can help you narrow your search!
All our cats and kittens are fully vetted, tested, wormed and treated for fleas, spayed or neutered, UTD on vaccinations, and microchipped before adoption.

We are proud to be a PetSmart Charities Adoption Partner and manage the PetSmart Adoption Centers in Wake Forest at 11835 Retail Drive and in Raleigh at Six Forks Station, 8825 Six Forks Road, and at Capital Crossings, 2800 East Millbrook Road where adoption events are held every weekend from 11:00 am - 1 pm. Covid has shortened our adoptathon hours, but we are always available by email which is the best way to reach us.

More about this rescue

Purr Partners Feline Rescue is a 501(c)(3), no-kill, foster-based, all-volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens in Central North Carolina — incorporated in 2009 by two friends, four cats, and no budget. These two women realized the need for a "cat only" rescue that worked with rural shelters — where cats routinely lose their lives. Purr Partners was founded to save the lives of those most in jeopardy with little hope of survival. High-kill rural shelters became the focus for Purr Partners, and that is still true today. From those humble beginnings, the rescue has grown to over a hundred active volunteers and a budget of approximately $175,000. At any given time there are between 100 and 150 cats and kittens in foster care. We have saved the lives of over 3500 cats and are still growing!
