Gravy is a very sweet boy who was returned to Purr Partners after he was found to be having difficulty breathing. We discovered that his adopter had been burning essential oils in a very small apartment, and it was interfering with Gravy’s breathing. Did you know essential oils can be toxic to cats? After Gravy was taken out of that atmosphere, he starting breathing better within a day or two, and now you wouldn’t know that he had ever had any difficulty breathing at all. 😺 While he was at the Emergency Clinic, though, he was diagnosed to have a heart defect that he had had since birth. Gravy is on two medications that are given two times a day, and he is a champ at taking his meds. This past spring, he had an ultrasound at his vet’s office, and his heart looks better than it ever has. 😺 Gravy is active like any other cat and runs up and down the stairs with no issues. He loves to lie on the windowsill or somewhere up high and look out at the world going by. Gravy lives with many other cats and gets along beautifully with all of them, and he absolutely loves to be petted. Purr Partners Feline Rescue is a 501(c)(3), no-kill, foster-based, all-volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens in Central North Carolina — incorporated in 2009 by two friends, four cats, and no budget. These two women realized the need for a "cat only" rescue that worked with rural shelters — where cats routinely lose their lives. Purr Partners was founded to save the lives of those most in jeopardy with little hope of survival. High-kill rural shelters became the focus for Purr Partners, and that is still true today. From those humble beginnings, the rescue has grown to over a hundred active volunteers and a budget of approximately $175,000. At any given time there are between 100 and 150 cats and kittens in foster care. We have saved the lives of over 3500 cats and are still growing!
