My story

Kyler is a super sweet guy looking for a family of his own. His coloring is the typical tuxedo coloring except he has an adorable white stripe down his nose. He is a purr machine and wants nothing more than someone to cuddle with and love him forever. Kyler also loves playing with toys, especially hair ties, and can be quite vocal during play with the cutest mews ever. He gets along great with other cats and would be okay with a cat friendly dog. Kyler is neutered, litter box trained, doesn't mind nail trimmings or getting his medicine, and is estimated to be born around June 2020. Kyler does have a mild heart murmur which currently requires medicine every 12 hours. He may grow out of this condition, but will require medicine for the rest of his life if not. Even with the troubles Kyler has experienced with his health, he is still the most gentle and loving kitty.

If you are reading this, we are still accepting applications on this pet. Please read the Adoption Process steps below.

Our Adoption Process:

  1. Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo an in person or virtual home visit from an RHS representative.

  2. Complete Application.  https://www.richardsonhumanesociety.org/adopt/

  3. Phone Interview/Vet Check. Compatible applicants will be forwarded to a counselor who will contact the applicant for a phone interview. We also get a reference from your vet, if applicable.

  4. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in. We will try to include the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Due to COVID, we may ask you to send a video of your yard and the pet's expected living space.

  5. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at your home or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $125 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.

More about this rescue

Richardson Humane Society was chartered as a 501(c)3 Non Profit Texas corporation in 2000. We are an all volunteer group and have grown to more than 100 volunteers. As of 2019, we have rescued and re-homed over 2400 homeless pets.

Mission Statement
The purpose of this society is to rescue and re-home adoptable pets, educate our community regarding the prevention of cruelty to animals, the promotion of animal population control through advocation of spay/neuter programs, and the extension of humane education.

It is the policy of the society to provide humane care and treatment for animals needing protection in the area served by the society; to seek to return lost animals to their owners; to seek suitable homes for animals without owners; to promote spay/neuter in the community; to encourage a network of foster homes for adoptable animals, to aid in encouraging adequate conditions in our city shelter and to educate this community in living with their pet and being responsible pet owners, i.e.-education on health, training and behavioral care, as well as ways to recognize abuse, neglect or cruelty. In its care and disposition of animals, the society shall maintain the highest level of care and integrity in placement, care and education.

We will be active in our community educating the children in our schools, bringing the community together with fundraisers and pet friendly events and ensuring each pet owner has all the resources/information necessary to care for their pet.
