My name is H.P (Howard Phillip) and I am a young, intelligent, energetic, Very lovable guy! I May the handsomest boy in the whole rescue (don’t tell the others!)

I am probably around 2 years old and recently recovered from a broken leg. I have a permanent plate in but I still love to run and play like any other dog! This silly plate doesn’t slow me down, but maybe it should a *little*. The nice rescue people say I will NOT be able to be your marathon-partner and I probably shouldn’t spend long times running on pavement or next to your bike, but short distances and regular play and fetch is A-O-K!. I enjoy hikes, swimming, chasing things and everything else in between- I should be leashed and watched around cars, that’s how I hurt my leg in the first place..

I am a hugger and a *tiny bit* of a thief but I’m working really hard on that and I’m doing a great job learning to walk on leash and getting an understanding of basic obedience.

I have no toy or food aggression, and when I take something I’m not supposed to have, I’m NOT a jerk when you need to take it away. I am learning the “out” command and “leave it” as well to make this even less of an issue.

I have done well with other dogs so far (mostly female), although I haven’t gotten a real play session in yet as I’ve been really trying to heal this leg properly.

I would enjoy having older kids to love and dote on me- I 110% BELIEVE IN MY HEART that I am a lap dog- I will melt into you, smother you with an obsessive amount of kisses and will become one with you if you allow me to. I will shower you with love, even after I’ve been showering you with it for a whole day. I will follow you to the ends of the earth and to every bathroom break or snack-grab you make. If you breathe excitedly- I’m in, let’s do it, where we going?! Because of the intense amount of love I have to give, it could be possible I would squish anyone too small to breathe under my weight, so maybe kids 10+ would be the way to go??

I pretend to be tough and will bark at new people, but after a proper sniff and maybe a little treat, I’m butter in your hands.

I am housebroken, vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and crate-trained! I will whine and then start to bark if I really need to get out to go potty.

I DO have that beautiful off-switch when it’s time to chill in the house!! Hooray!
