Additional adoption info

We want to ensure our adoptable pets will be adequately cared for in their new forever homes.

If interested in any of our pets, call or email to set up an appointment If an animal is in foster care, you will need to schedule a time to visit so that we can ensure the pet you are interested in can be brought to the shelter for a meet-n-greet.

Once a decision to adopt has been made, a contract will be signed with commitments by the adopters to maintain the health and welfare of the animal, including future spay/neuter (if not already completed), along with ongoing rabies and other annual vaccinations. Fees vary based on age of the animal and the stage it is in the vetting process, For fully vetted dogs (shots, including rabies, spay/neuter, and micro-chip), the fees range from $125-$200..

Go meet their pets

We are located on Hwy 171 in Mexia, Texas. If interested in meeting any of our shelter animals, please submit an inquiry and someone will contact you to set up an appointment. If the animal you are interested in is housed in a foster home, we will need to coordinate with the foster to bring the pet to the shelter.

In addition to partnering with Petco in Waco for both puppy and kitten adoptions, we also attend numerous local adoption events in areas such as Mexia, Groesbeck, Corsicana, Ennis, Waco, Tyler, Grapevine, Dallas, Fairfield, and Buffalo, Texas. Call or visit our website at www.larashouseshelter.com for information on our next event.
