My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stella Bella was a gorgeous long-haired kitty who was black with a mix of gray when she came to the refuge. She was very pregnant when she was surrendered to the refuge by a former Goathouse employee in hopes that she would have a safe place to deliver her babies. Within a few days of her arrival, she gave birth to 4 kittens on 4-10-21. Stella Bella and her babies have been receiving wonderful care in a foster home, and while Stella Bella remains very guarded and avoidant of people, we hope with time she will grow to trust humans so that she can find a great forever home once her kittens no longer need her to mother them. She lost a great deal of fur during her pregnancy which is growing back with no gray nor white except the round white dot on her chest, and she is very petite for an adult kitty. It is thought that she will eventually be a medium to long haired solid black kitty with one dot of white at her chest. Stella Bella would prefer a very quiet, patient family with experience in cat socialization so she can have the space and supportive guidance she needs in order for her to thrive.

Interested in adopting a Goathouse cat or kitten? Then please start by completing the following steps required in our screening process:
1) Complete our online adoption application: Visit www.goathouserefuge.org/adoption-application/ to get started!
2) Come for a Visit: We are open 11am - 3 PM Saturday and Sunday. Fridays are by appointment.
3) Complete a home visit: Once you confirm that you've visited in person with the cat(s) of interest and completed the online application, your responses will be reviewed by the refuge staff so that a volunteer member of our home visit team can contact you to schedule a visit. Only after a representative of the refuge has visited the applicant's home will the refuge consider continuing with the adoption process.

More about this rescue

Siglinda Scarpa is a potter and a sculpter who owns 3 acres of fenced-in property in which she houses up to 258 homeless cats. The Refuge is a sanctuary for these cats, who never have to leave, but if they are adoptable, the cats are posted on our website and taken to adoption events in the community. The more cats that we find homes for, the more cats we can rescue.
