Meet Wanda, a four-year-old Hound/Retriever mix weighing 97 pounds.
Wanda is a big, bubbly girl with soulful eyes and a personality that fills the whole room. She’s outgoing, friendly, and always ready to say hello. We lovingly joke that she might be part pony—she’s a big gal with an even bigger heart!
Wanda is very treat motivated (so watch your fingers!) and eager to learn. With positive reinforcement and a little consistency, she’ll happily show you just how smart she is. She starts out with some excited energy, but once she gets her wiggles out, she’s content to be right by your side. She would absolutely love to be your walking or hiking partner, exploring the world together.
While in our care, Wanda began limping, and our staff quickly made sure she was seen by a veterinarian. She needed TPLO surgery, and we’re happy to share that she received the procedure and is now recovering well. It was just a small bump in the road on her journey to finding a forever home—and one we were grateful to smooth over for her.
Wanda is ready for her next chapter with a family who will continue her recovery, keep her active in all the right ways, and shower her with the love she so freely gives. If you’re looking for a loyal, larger-than-life best friend, Wanda is waiting to meet you.
This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society.
