My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Almost Home Foster Kennels is a not-for-profit, 501c3 rescue located in SE Minnesota. Our mission is to provide a haven for the voiceless; the abused, neglected, dumped and abandoned, but primarily, for those that are on the Urgent or those scheduled for euthanasia.

We are primarily a Beagle and small dog rescue. Our Beagles come from states where they are used primarily for hunting or breeding.

We are currently accepting applications for Benson. Benson is 5 years of age and comes to AHFK from Louisiana. Benson currently weighs 23#, and we have him on a healthy food regiment - he needs 2-3# to be classified as a healthy weight.

Benson is anxious around new people and at times, can be fearful of one's intent to touch. He does not like to be picked up and will get nippy until he trusts. At this time, we recommend no small children. He is getting much better at trusting the longer he is with his humans. Benson does not care to be a "pack" dog either; one other dog - a female is best.

Benson will complete his vetting on Sept. 8th. He will be available for meet and greet visits that following weekend. He is fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped and will receive his dental on 09/08.

Benson has had a rough start. He was abandoned by his previous owner when he was dumped at boarding. He remained in boarding for 80 days, waiting for his owner to return. He never did. The boarding facility then surrendered him to the area Humane Society. It was then that AHFK pulled and transported him.
