Piper Bea I`ve decided to stop reading the newspaper, checking my Facebook, or listening to the news. It makes me too anxious, and if you are a cat, anxiety is something to avoid! I am a 10-year-old female orange tabby. I try not to worry about this, but only 2 out of 10 orange cats are female! So why am I orange? Yikes! I am a large girl at 12.5 pounds, so I tend to avoid wearing bathing suits. I hate to be teased about my figure. You can probably tell I lack self-confidence, but it might make sense to you if you knew I have been adopted and returned to HSHC 4 times. That gives a girl an inferiority complex. But I`m not one to give up. My last owner kept me for four years and only returned me because he could not afford my medical care. He had many positive things to say about me. For example, I am a playful girl who loves string toys and chasing laser pointers. I love it when you pay attention to me because I am extremely affectionate. I seek people out for pets and scratches. I greet strangers with friendly curiosity. The ten-year-old child in the home and I got along well. I quickly learned to redirect any scratching to the cardboard scratchers or posts. The only reason I take medicine is to help me control my anxiety. Stress can cause me to develop cystitis, an inflammation of the bladder. I`ve been prescribed Hills C/D Multicare Stress prescription food to keep my urinary tract and bladder healthy. Providing me with medicine, diet, and the proper introduction to your home will be crucial to my adoption success. A calm, predictable routine is just what the doctor ordered! I spent some time in a foster home, and my foster mom reported that I did great! I was very friendly and relaxed, and I loved to run around the house. I was comfortable enough to lie on her lap, and was pretty content and happy overall. AND I used my litter box without fail! My foster mom recognized that I need someone who sympathizes with my worrywart tendency and will provide support and care. The interview lady (IL) has known me ever since I first checked into the HSHC in 2016. She has always felt that I am a loveable, friendly cat who loves being petted and scratched. She thinks I am a beautiful girl and that I deserve a loving forever home. 2-3-26

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
