Meet Fiona

Who loves big ears? Fiona is a playful, athetic 2 year old mixed breed currently about 55 pounds, (our best guess is some shepherd and some pit bull). While she is quite active and could use some good manners training, she is also very smart and trainable. Fiona thinks she is a lap dog-she is the best cuddler. Rescued from the streets of Texas, she comes to Maryland looking for her forever home. In search of an active family, if you have a fence, it must be 6 feet. Loving, housebroken, smart, learning her commands. Here is the "but"...Fiona is fearful of some outside noise, people she doesn't know, dogs she doesn't know, etc. and will need slow introductions or she just keep her distance until she feels comfortable, we can have a trainer explain strategies to help her learn more confidence. Vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. She is really an awesome dog. Send us an application if interested.
APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) The adoption fee is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter if under 5 months. Puppies under 5 months of age may go to adoptive homes before they are spayed/neutered. Adopters who choose to adopt a puppy that has not yet been spayed/neutered are subject to an additional deposit of $100 (refundable upon proof of spay/neuter.) Included in the adoption fee, the rescue will arrange spay/neuter by a partner vet at a predetermined appointment when the puppy is between 4-6 months of age. It is the responsibility of the adopter to bring the adopted puppy back to the rescue vet for spaying/neutering or to send verification from their own vet (and own cost) that the puppy had been spayed/neutered. All of our dogs will be microchipped. Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment.
