My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tor was brought into NYC’s Animal Care and Control in January with a bite of unknown origin. Due to these circumstances, he was required to be put on a six month rabies hold quarantine, monitored by the New York City Department of Health. Attached to the plea was a video. We watched and decided that we had to help this cat.

Although we will never be 100 percent sure, it appears that Tor was a discarded house cat that was dumped in a feral colony to fend for himself. By the time he was brought into the shelter, the bite wound had abscessed and ruptured. In addition, he was dehydrated, severely emaciated with muscle wasting and suffering from conjunctivitis and an upper respiratory infection. He also has a condition called entropion. This is a condition where the eyelashes grow inward and rub against the eyeball. This is extremely painful and in his case was congenital. Despite all he had been through, he got a glowing level 1 rating for behavior. This is the very best behavior rating a cat can receive.

Tor was transported to our veterinary hospital where he was given the very best care and treatment. He also had his entropion surgery under the care of Dr. van der Woerdt at the world- renowned Animal Medical Center.

Tor is a massive guy, and now weighs about 20 pounds. For all that he has been through, he is a total sweetheart, loves to be pet, purrs and gives head butts.

Tor is a sweet, independent guy and can sometimes be a bit assertive with other cats. For this reason, we would like to place him as a one and only or possibly with a confident non- aggressive cat. We can offer foster to adopt to make sure that it is a perfect match.
