Twix I was born at the HSHC in 2021, and I have been adopted and returned two times, due to allergies and being unwanted. Take a gander at my baby picture and tell me I’m not a cutie-patootie. I`m a charming fellow, neutered, litterbox proficient, and healthy. I lived with my owners, their dogs, and their kids aged 7 to 12, and I thought we were happy. I am now 4.5-years-old, with a dark brown Tabby coat with white feet, chin, and belly. I have always been a curious, active, playful boy, with an intense need for interactive play. You know, when a child or a pet with excess energy is bored, they can get into things you don’t want them to. If only my owners knew that young cats must have things to occupy their minds. Cat trees to climb, toys to play with my owner, and appropriate scratching posts or pads are all crucial to my kitty contentment. Having interactive playtime several times a day will keep me satisfied and ready for a nap. Because I am an enthusiastic litterbox user, a closed-top box helps me keep the mess to a minimum. When I visited with the interviewer lady (IL), I rolled onto my side for belly rubs and chin scratches. When I want attention, I will climb into your lap, but if you try to put me in your lap, I’ll leave. I can get grouchy when I get too much petting. Reading my body language will be the key to stopping the touching before I react. Ironically, I love having people around me all the time. I do not enjoy being all alone for hours on end. Call me a needy nugget, but I love my family. 2-9-26

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
