My story

This goofy love bug is Steve. He is a 11 month old Great Dane/Pit mix (guessing) who just loves to love! He weighs about 70 lbs but may be around 75 - 80 lbs full grown.

If you are looking for someone to always be excited to see you, Steve is your guy! He wants to be by your side at all times for pets and love. Steve came to be with us after he was thrown out of a window on the highway. Despite this, he absolutely adores car rides!

His favorite thing to do is to be on the couch with you watching tv. We have also learned that he is good luck, especially if you tell him he can have treats when your team makes a play! It has made our games days that much more exciting! His favorite games are frisbee, fetch and most of all tug of war! Playtime is a must so he can get that energy out for proper snuggles.

He is very treat motivated and learns fairly quick, he has mastered “sit” and almost has “stay”. He is crate and house trained and does best on a schedule. He does love his stuffed rabbit and blankie that stay with him in his kennel. He does have a habit of chewing but a couple logs and big bones and problems solved! He walks ok on a leash. He will pull at first from excitement but quickly calms down and walks beside you.

He currently lives with dogs, cats, and puppies. He has done well with the dogs in his foster home, and he adores puppies. All introductions with other dogs do need to be slow over a period of time as well as giving him his own space for him and his food/water. Once he and your dog get each other figured out, they will be playing constantly!

Cats are a bit different, he wants to play, they tell him to kick rocks, he tells them where they can stick it and eventually they go there separate ways. Unless the cats brings up his mamma and then he will chase them under the bed before coming to sit next to you proudly! “I told that feline off for ya mamma!” He is the goodest goofiest boy in the world, and it makes him that much better!

He is a bit of a clumsy guy at times so a home without small children that can be knocked over would be best. He does his very best to always be gentle but those darn paws try to get in his way!

He has his quirks, but he is beyond loyal and loving! A little patience and understanding in the beginning, and you have the best companion for life with all the love and trust he can possibly give! He really is a joy and the love in his eyes when he looks at you will melt your heart!

Steve is neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccines. His adoption fee is $200.

If you would like to adopt Steve and make him a part of your family, please apply at FYDRadopt.com.

Additional adoption info

Every dog that is rescued by Forever Yours is checked by a veternarian, vaccinated, spay/neutered, dewormed, heartworm/ehrlichia tested and treated if needed, and microchipped. We also treat any other illnesses or issues that the dog may have on intake.

We require an adoption application (FYDRadopt.com), a house check, and our adoption fee is $175.00.

If available, you will get an opportunity to talk to your chosen pet's foster family when you meet your potential new family member. This will enable you to ask any questions and learn all about your pet.

Forever Yours Dog Rescue does not have a facility, all of our wonderful rescues are in foster homes with families that take care of them and love them until their forever homes come along.

More about this rescue

Forever Yours Dog Rescue was founded on November 8th, 2011, with the mission of helping smaller animal shelters located throughout Oklahoma.

We are an Oklahoma City based all-breed 501(c) dog rescue, caring for the unwanted, abandoned, and abused dogs of Oklahoma. We rescue from local shelters and shelters throughout Oklahoma. We do take owner surrender's under certain situations.

We advocate spay/neuter and offer assistance in finding a low-cost option for those that qualify.

We promote adoption as an alternative to buying your pet.
We provide pet ownership education through materials, counceling, and on-site workshops, at no cost to the public, with an emphasis on preventative care.

We are all volunteer based, with no paid employees.
Please support us in our mission to attain a time in Oklahoma when there are homes for all adoptable pets by donating at www.foreveryoursokc.org/donate.
