My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chino came into rescue with 10 other dogs that we are working on getting vetted and ready for adoption as well. Chino is a purebred bull terrier who is approximately 5 years old, from what we were told. Chino and his friends were victims of the flooding in Dixie County. Their entire property was under water and their owners had lost their running water as well so they asked us to help the dogs and get them out of there as it was getting difficult for them to care for them. Chino seemed to be in pretty good health. We had him vetted and neutered on 9/15/21. Overall Chino was in fairly good health. He did have hookworms so we treated him with Drontal + for the worms. He also, unfortunately tested positive for heartworms and erlichiosis. We are treating the heartworms with ivermectin monthly. His adopter can either opt to keep him on the ivermectin each month or do full treatment. The ivermectin is an affordable method to treat heartworms and is less invasive and hard on the dog than full treatment,, however it will take longer to treat using the ivermectin. The erlichiosis only needs treatment if he develops symptoms so at this time, he is not on any meds for that. It is suspected that he has demodex and he was given a nexgard for the treatment of the demodex and also for his monthly flea control. If kept current each month on a preventative such as nexgard, he should not have a skin issue. Chino was also diagnosed with a grade 3 out of 6 heart murmur.. This may be an issue he has had since birth or it may be related to his heartworm disease. He currently is not on any medications for the murmur and only time will tell if it will become an issue for him as he ages,if he will require meds down the road or if it will get worse over time. Please keep this in mind when adopting Chino as he may,one day, need treatment. Chino weighed in at 36 pounds and he does walk nicely on a leash and is crate trained. Chino is a happy go lucky boy. He can be a bit stubborn, excitable and rambunctious (he likes to jump when he wants attention or wants to play). Chino gets along with other dogs and he should do fine with older children. We do not recommend a home with small children because he does have that bull terrier bowl you over mentality which little children don't understand. We do not know how Chino does with cats. Chino does load into a car on his own and seems to like to ride. Since Chino is a bull terrier, he will require regular walks/exercise. He is an active breed so he would do best in an active home. If you are a homebody who doesn't like another of physical activity Chino may not be the best fit for you.Bull terriers can be prone to genetic health issues which can be expensive to care for so please keep that in mind for the long term,, when considering adopting Chino. Chino is a sweet, fun, happy guy looking for a fun loving family! If interested in giving Chino his forever home, please submit your interest and your adoption application via email or text ONLY to 352-215-3260 (phone calls will not be answered or returned from this number). Chino's adoption fee will be $200 to help cover the cost of his vetting and daily care while with us
