My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Goldy is a sweet, affectionate little dog who loves to be near her people. She is 4-5 years old is the perfect size at 17 lbs. She follows her foster mom around the house and settles down near her. She loves to cuddle in the recliner in the evenings. Goldy seems equally fond of men and women. Her foster family consists of adults so we don’t know for sure how she would be with young children but we are confident that this friendly girl would be fine with older kids who know how to treat dogs.
Goldy has done well with the low-key dogs in her foster home. She isn’t a playful dog—she has had zero interest in toys and she hasn’t tried to play with her foster siblings, but they aren’t very playful so they haven’t tried to play with her. Goldy seems to enjoy the companionship of other dogs—going outside with them, running with them to the window to bark at people and dogs passing by, etc. but we think that she would also enjoy being the only dog of an attentive owner. In her foster home there is someone at home almost all of the time and Goldy has enjoyed that but she has done fine when left at home with the other dogs when her foster family has been gone for a couple of hours.
Goldy absolutely loves going for walks around the neighborhood. She gets so excited when she sees her harness and leash! She keeps a good pace as she walks and she is always on the lookout for squirrels and rabbits to chase. She has also tried to chase cats so we aren’t certain how she would do in a household with cats but we suspect she could adapt to cats in a home setting. She has also enjoyed several short car rides while with her foster family.
Goldy is a vocal dog and has a loud bark. She loves barking through the fence at the dogs next door and she likes to watch at the front window for people and dogs to bark at. She makes a high-pitched sound for a few minutes as she happily greets family members when they return home. She also “sings” when the musical members of her foster family practice their instruments!
Goldy is very interested in food. It appears that she is used to being fed from the table and although that doesn’t happen in her foster home, that doesn’t stop her from begging! She is always nearby when her family prepares or eats dinner and at times she stands on her hind legs to get a better view of what’s on the table. She seems to have a very keen sense of smell.
Goldy is a wonderful little dog who is the perfect size and a winning personality. She will be a devoted companion for a lucky adopter for many years to come.

Please fill out an application for Goldy here. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FCRC/Dog Once received, we will put you in touch with her foster mom. She is located in Huntsville, AL, but is happy to travel wherever her perfect family leads.

She is spayed, current on preventatives, microchipped, current on vaccines and dewormed.
